Amir Luqman’s Collection at Karachi Fashion Week 2010

There are some things in life that are meant strictly for the bold and beautiful, the daring damsels who walk with their chins up high. Amir Luqman’s latest collection is meant for that woman –the woman of 2010! He incorporates a mixture of bold, vibrant colors with sensual silhouettes and cuts in his designs that will raise eyebrows and turn heads.

Amir Luqman is a Malaysian Fashion Designer who has showcased his collection for the first time in Pakistan at the grand Karachi Fashion Week 2010. This was the second Karachi Fashion Week held in Pakistan and despite the security concerns, the event organizers Triple E did an applaudable job in making the event a huge success. Karachi Fashion week is a platform where designers from all over the world are given a chance to showcase their designs and collections to the Pakistani audience and designers.

Being Malaysian, his designs have a Malaysian touch in them which have been finessed to an elegance smartly mixed with boldness. The blend of elegance with bold cuts is done superbly by this new designer and his designs will appeal to those women who love to stand out in a crowd.

Christian Siriano Spring 2010 Collection at New York Fashion Week

Inspired by the Mediterranean, Christian Siriano opts for neutrals to showcase his first several pieces for Spring 2010. The collection was paired with grand floppy hats, to present the feel of seaside relaxation and high class. The prolific line included fun, lady-like cocktail dresses evoking 80s trend in the softest possible way. Colors ranged from peaches, creams and champagne tones to blue lagoon watercolor splash to an orange-red that were virtually setting dresses ablaze. The blue becomes prominent at the ramp, along with a sea green. Many of the following outfits, such as casual wear, dresses, and bodysuit, make use of colors through a tie and dye effect.

Displaying his fierceness, Siriano makes use of fiery colors and volume to show off femininity and confidence in his gowns. Lifting the audience to rousing applause was the beautifully tiered chiffon strapless princess ballgown, which reminded us of Carrie Bradshaw’s Paris Oscar de la Renta confections. Here are some ravishing images from this collection.

Philippine Pride – Veejay Floresca S/S 2010 Collection

After the success of featuring Filipino Talents like Santi Obcena’s Collection, here comes another Pinoy Talent to shine in the Fashion World.  Veejay Floresca’s Spring/Summer Collection 2010 showcased the sparkle trend using sequins and other flashy materials like silk.

Noticed the details of his cuts and folds, amazing how it accentuates and enhances the model’s body that will absolutely work on the wearer.  Tulip skirts are haunting us back and so Veejay relived the ghosts of the trends of yesterdays to create a magnificent collection for Spring/Summer.  Enjoy the masterpieces of Veejay Floresca!

Lindsay Lohan Expands Leggings Label Into Full Fashion

"Georgia Rule" actress Lindsay Lohan has announced her plan in extending her leggings label, 6126, into a full fashion collection. On December 27, the 23-year-old beauty wrote on her Twitter page, "i need MORE followers i am so sad about this, how can i tell everyone about my 6126 full collection COMING OUT! all clothing."

Calvin Klein

Like Halston, Calvin Klein epitomized disco glamour in the freewheeling late Seventies. His tight designer jeans, which clung to the sleek bodies of the greatest beauties of the day, including the young Brooke Shields, cemented his fame and made him millions of dollars. However, Calvin Klein’s reign continued well into the 80’s and 90’s – his spare, stripped-down designs offered a minimalist perspective that carried a very modern message. The use of sexuality in his ads was often a keystone of his success; his campaigns were designed to send overt messages and perhaps to shock. Today, his empire is still strong, despite some turbulence in the late nineties: his suits, dresses, and couture still offer a unique viewpoint.

Born in 1942 in New York, Klein also capitalized on his own charisma and lean good looks. Throughout the decades, rumors about his own sexual orientation seemed to fuel the ongoing mystique and appeal of this designer. His biggest business rival, Ralph Lauren, was believed to envy Klein’s ability to charm so effortlessly, and to “work a room”.

Klein received his education at the renowned Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. His Calvin Klein underwear line, as well as his array of successful perfumes, helped him to build his empire. His ability to choose the sexiest, hippest stars for his ad campaigns also revealed his tremendous savvy and perceptiveness: celebs such as musician/actor Mark Wahlberg and supermodel Kate Moss also benefited from his uncanny ability to read the zeitgeist

Carolina Herrera Koleksi Musim Semi 2010

Each gown that floated down the runway was a true piece of art, from the Henri Matisse dress inspired by the famed artist's paper cutouts, to the Georges-Pierre Seurat gown which used pointillism as its starting point with a polka-dotted theme. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the fabulous hat the model donned, which was straight out of Seurat's famous A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte!

Now, I'm a picture gal, so I wanted to show all of you Carolina Herrera's amazing dresses side-by-side with the work of the artist that they were inspired by. For full details on this exquisite collection, check out OneWed's Wedding News!

Movie Trailer: Iron Man 2 in 2010 Summer

A few years ago, a movie called Iron Man took a once famous actor who had fallen on hard times of his own making and transformed him once again into an A list Hollywood actor. In the summer Robert Downey Jr. will once again light up movie screens across the world as he stars once again as Tony Stark in "Iron Man 2". The first "Iron Man" movie is one of my favorite movies of all time and we're look forward to lining up with millions of other movie fans in May to see the next sequel in this series.

The Iron Man concept may have been taken from comic books, but it was also custom made for the silver screen and Robert Downey Jr. is the perfect actor to play the leading role. Just like with the first "Iron Man" movie, we foresee Iron Man 2 should score well at the box office and make this flick the one to beat in the all important summer (2010) release category

Here is the latest Iron Man 2 trailer for your preview.

This Iron Man 2 trailer jumped the gun a little bit, and has popped online before its Jimmy Kimmel debut. At first glance it looks like a rehash of the first trailer, but you'd be wrong! There's tons of new footage in here, and you'll get to hear from characters you haven't yet seen, namely Sam Rockwell's Justin Hammer and a bit more of Mickey Rourke's Whiplash. His Russian accent sounds a bit cartoony, but better than it did in that muttered line in the first trailer.

Even better, you get to see some of Scarlett Johansson. She still doesn't have a single line to her black leather catsuit, but she gets to throw some sultry glances and shoot Tony Stark's palm gun. I don't even mean that to sound sexy, but it's going to. Well, we can't help it. :)

So what we can do now is just wait for the judgment day to come. Yes, May 7.

Man Fashion: 100 Years Vintage Levi's Jeans

Are you willing to pay $36,099 for a pair of Levi's jean? The story came from California, where an old pair of vintage Levi’s was found in a mine in the Rand Mining District, on the Mojave Desert. Surprisingly, the jeans were covered in wax and with an old paper bag and the name of a mercantile store which operated between 1895 and 1898.

Then eBay came into the picture. The bid for the old Levi’s went up to $36,099, and it’s still going!

What we learn from this? Save a pair of vintage jeans to our kids, who know it may worth thousand dollars in 100 years time!! :)

Man Fashion Week: Z Zegna Spring 2010 Collection

Body conscious strokes on old school cuts turn up in Z Zegna, Alessandro Sartori of Z Zegna mixes dandy-ism with street cred, pairing svelte blazers and waistcoats that are nipped at the waist and worn with sheer T-shirts, as well as single- and double-breasted suits snug, nearly as tight as his head-to-toe ensembles in oxblood-colored leather.

Launched in 2004 as Ermenegildo Zegna's younger, more fashion-forward collection, the Z Zegna line now accounts for about 15 percent of its parent company's bottom line. Design head Alessandro Sartori grew up in a small mountain town renowned for the wool it produced for Zegna, and Sartori—his surname is Italian for "tailor"—has spent virtually his entire career with the company.

Man Skin Care Tips: Problem with Wrinkles?

What if I told you that five years from now your face could look younger than it does today? I know that it sounds ridiculous, but exciting advances in men's skincare have made it possible for you to maintain your rugged lifestyle without suffering the aging effects of exposure to the elements. This means that you can continue to enjoy golf, hunting, fishing, camping and any other outdoor activity without worrying that the sun, wind and air pollutants are going to wreak havoc on your appearance.

We will explain in more detail in next few para with more medical and technical terms involved, but don't worry, you can decode those term from simple Google search. :)

Perhaps the most important natural ingredients in mens skincare for oily skin are Vitamin B5, also known as D-Panthenol, and witch hazel. These are two of the strongest natural healing agents and they provide "protection against sunburn, soothe irritated skin and repair the damage caused by shaving.

The logical solution for skincare for men would be to buy skincare with collagen and elastin in the ingredients since our bodies stopped producing them. However that is not the case. Men's skin is tougher and need to be treated with ingredients that are specially formulated to treat their skin. Most men do not care for their skin so it becomes dry, wrinkled and unevenly toned. I know a lot of men spend hours on end in the sun without any sunscreen protection.

There is one very fine source which helps your skin produce sufficient collagen so that it retains it elasticity and wards off lines and wrinkles from occurring. If you already have lines and wrinkles it helps to remove them. It also produces natural protein which encourages new skin cell growth and is known as the most effective anti-ageing substance there is.You will also need to find a natural substance know to protect the levels of hyaluronicacid in your body, this helps your collagen and elastin keep your skin young.

Drinking water filtered though a home water filter will prevent your skin from coming into contact with the chemicals found in our water supply. Installing a shower filter is also a good idea, as our skin's pores open up while showering in warm water, and it absorbs chemicals from the water at a faster rate in this condition.

Man Fashion: Dressing vs. Body Type

Everyone want to look smart, and they ended with continuous searching for their own fashion style. But most of us have forgot the primary important element in fashion, ie. your body outfit. So if you want look smart then you need to know which type of outfit suits your frame the best and pick clothes that give your shape the perfect, well dressed look.

So you can achieve this fashion goal of looking great and thus, feeling good at all times by learning about men body type. In this article, we will give you some trendy tips about dressing right for your body type. If you will follow our tips, you have a whole new world of haute-couture men’s fashion awaiting you – not to mention the ladies lining up to be escorted by you (just kidding, but who's know).

So, aim for knowing your body well, its flaws and tiny imperfections; then study your best features and highlight these while downplaying all the not-so-great ones. So we are here to help you to save some money to learn this instead of to consult a fashioner designer to know this; even your friendly neighborhood tailor can advise you about the right coat, trousers and shirt or jacket style for your body type.

Just ask around. Else, consult a good friend or remember what kind of clothes get you most compliments and buy more of those styles. Don’t be led by current fashion trends blindly as ramp models have very different physiques as compared to regular men. So, always select clothes that suit your particular body type i.e. lanky, stout, broad waisted or narrow hipped etc. before buying a specific style. E.g. double–breasted coats are smart, no doubt, but don’t suit those with a stocky built; bulky frame men need to go in for single-breasted jacket and suits to look trimmer. Similarly, those with a thin body should opt for a well-tailored double-breasted blazer made in thick wool to give some bulk to their frame. Men with long legs and short-waist should go in for garments that are long on the torso to balance out the overall look; similarly, those with narrow shoulders can go in for padded shoulders in coats, jackets and blazers for a fuller appearance.

Small size men should avoid wearing contrast colors as this will only draw attention to their shortness and though no-one has the perfect body, even the cover mag guys we love to hate, by dressing right, one can always give the look of being near perfect!

2010 Men Hairstyle Trends

Well, everyone are wondering what will be mens hairstyle trends in 2010? In our own opinion, here are just a few of men hairstyle trends in 2010.

Short Man’s Hairstyles

High and Tight, Fade, Spike, Clipper Cut and Crew Cut, whatever name you want to call it. We reckoned that by far the most popular man’s hairstyle in 2010 is the High and Tight or Fade.

Characterized by a closely cropped clipper cut around the sides and back of the head with just enough hair on top of the head to comb, this man’s hairstyle with its many variations accounts for about 50% of all popular styles today. With just a little bit of gel to spike up the top, mess it up a little or finger into place, this man’s hairstyle will only take you seconds to achieve.

While you may have to get it cut more often, about every three weeks or so, the ease of styling this man hair cut is what makes it a favorite among busy men today.

Medium length, textured Men’s Hairstyle

2010 hairstyle trends for men have a lot of texture and the same is true for medium-length styles (about 3 to 4 inches). These styles resemble the classic man haircut of the past, but step it up a notch by using extreme texture and color to bring it all together.

Most styles use a great deal of razoring and texturizing with notching scissors. To style this man’s hairstyle pomade usually works best. Work product through dry hair and finger into place.

Long Men’s Hairstyles

While most men do not wear their hair down their back anymore, the long man’s hair style has made a somewhat shorter comeback. Perhaps the most recognizable example that we can related to this men’s hair style is Ashton Kutcher. Long, textured and disheveled, this man hair cut is gaining widespread popularity. Again, this man’s hair cut requires a lot of texture and works best with pomade.

As you can see, the man’s hair style in 2010 is far from boring. Gone are the days of cookie-cutter barber shop man haircut. :)

Man Fashion: Men's with Economy Fashion Style

Although we always discussed about the latest fashion trends in each season and review about all the fashion designers clothing in each and single Men Fashion Week runway, we do received some e-mail on how we can achieve men fashion style and yet take good care of our wallet too.

Well, today we would like to share these 3 simple man fashion tips on how you can have both side of the world.

Buy clothes only in Seasonless fabrics

DO stock up on those that can be worn nearly all 12 months of the year, like silks, lightweight wools and knits, and sturdy, unflimsy cottons. DON’T spend serious money on summer-only (linen) or winter-only (heavy tweed) fabrics.

Introduce yourself to the most useful accessory ever

DO play with belts to remake everything--a sweater, a dress, a jacket--in your closet. Gabrielle Union's look is perfection, right? DON'T attempt to cinch in lots of excess fabric. You'll look like a paper bag tied in the middle!

Own a few cardigans

DO make sure you have several of these always-right sweaters in tissue-thin cashmere or wool like Kate's, or a nice cotton. Wear them in place of jackets--they're a whole lot cheaper! Check out sales, but... DO realize it's OK not to wait for the markdown if you find a piece you love and will wear again and again and again. DON'T get so caught up in the fact that something's on sale for $7 that you squeeze yourself into a too-tight piece and say, "It fits!"

Man Fashion: Looking for New Designer Handbags?

Choosing the right men designer handbag is as critical as choosing shoes, suits, or any other accessory, this is simply because wrong designer handbag could bring more damage than anything to your overall style, whereas matched designer handbag can change your look from sexy and sassy to cool and stylist. You probably will agree with me by looking at some of our previous men designer handbag posts.

So before you decide to start looking for any new men designer handbags, let us share our 3 simple tips on choosing the right men designer handbag.

  1. Choosing the right designer handbag not only reflects the different facets of your personality, it’s also all about image and your designer handbag speaks volumes about you – your sense of style, taste and level of sophistication. You should bear this in mind when choosing a designer handbag. Remember, first impressions always count.

  2. Make your designer handbag a good investment by choosing handbag that works with a variety of outfits.

  3. When making any new purchase, I always believe to invest as much as you can afford for the best you can afford. However, you have to make sure designer handbag suits the purpose it was meant for. In short, it may be simply to die for, but is should also be practical and affordable as well.

Man Fashion: Handmade Footwear from Hungary

Built for a discriminating consumer by the world’s foremost artisans,

Ildikó Gál represents the very best in bespoke footwear for men. The first collection of men’s handmade dress shoes, all constructed by third generation Hungarian shoemakers, debuts in America this month.

Towards that end, Ildikó Gál has opened a showroom in New York at 501 Fifth Avenue. Ildikó Gál (www.IldikoGal.com) is an emerging lifestyle brand that combines modern technology with Old World craftsmanship to produce luxurious products of unsurpassed quality. Hungarian shoe artisans have perfected their craft over hundreds of years.

In spite of modern techniques and the changing world around them these craftsmen remain true to this special art form, one that has been handed down through generations. Not only have their methods remained unchanged but so too have the habitats where they live and work. From small towns and villages in rural Hungary, these shoemakers produce stunning, handcrafted footwear much like their fathers and grandfathers before them. Now, Ildikó Gál marries that magnificent tradition with the discerning taste of a modern, 21st century palette and is able to make them available to a discerning clientele here in the US.

Constructing a perfect shoe starts with a state-of-the-art scanner that measure each foot from all angles. The foot scan data is instantly transmitted to the last makers, who create lasts that reflect a customer's unique feet. Once scanned the data remains in the system so that custom lasts can be made for any future style.

The shoe design is executed completely by hand using traditional methods and the finest skins.

Each pair of bespoke footwear is delivered in a custom fitted wooden box, with custom made shoe trees, silk shoe bags and special polishes.

A mere six weeks after placing an order, a customer receives his signature Ildiko Gál handmade shoes. Priced competitively (retail starting about $2,500) when compared to the best handmade shoes in the world, Ildikó Gál footwear is made to last. The brand is designed to be sold in leading couture fashion retail stores as well as through its New York-based showroom location.

All finished footwear is stamped with the artisan’s signature and each pair is unique, a true work of art.

Man Gadget: Apple iPad

If you follow latest IT development, you should noticed the hottest news lately. Yes. Apple iPad. My first impressions of this device are largely positive. Apple has once again built a product that looks good and feels great in the hand, and the familiar user interface, borrowed from the iPhone and iPod touch, is perfectly suited to the bigger screen. The iPad whizzes along, opening applications, re-sizing web pages, and zooming in and out of maps almost instantaneously.

It's a great, fun gaming platform, and it's lovely to view full-size web pages while browsing the internet. Developers, no doubt, are already rubbing their hands with glee about the apps and services they could tailor specifically for this device.

As Steve Jobs said during his keynote, if you're going to create a third category of device, between the smartphone and the laptop, then it needs to be better than either for certain tasks. In many areas, this is true for the iPad -- web browsing is much better on the iPad than the iPhone, just because of the bigger screen, and physically flicking through photos, music and movies is just more enjoyable on the iPad than a laptop.

Apple has already sold out its initial supply of iPads, which is going to be delivered on April 3rd. If you make an order now, you will have to wait until April 12th. Apple has only started delivering Wi-Fi enabled iPads. If you don't mind to wait slightly longer, 3G enabled iPads will be ready and ship by late April.
